Birth of a Smile (single)

by Nezrok

My mom started to forget and it got me wondering how I would feel if it continued. Here, I’m working through it.

The song features Dennis Diken (Smithereens) on drums, the horn section from KC and the Sunshine Band, and local luminary Bob Wlos on pedal steel.

An accompanying video was affectionately produced by Joe Howell for Jahal Records, LLC.

Birth of a Smile

If there were any words that we haven’t said
Please let us get them all out of the way
We had it all before this long goodbye
Please let me tell you what I’ve wanted to cry:

You’ve shaped me in ways you can’t possibly know
Your passion for living is how my blood flows
And now that the passion is leaving your eyes
It still leaves you with a smile

And I can feel it all my life
I never needed more than your love

Away – slowly it steals all of your memories
OK – let’s start some new ones and enjoy each day (over and over again)
Hello my friend
I’ll hang on each glimpse of yourself to the end
And although you're rarely in rare form
Your sunshine shoots through
I love you!

And I can feel it all my life
I never needed more than your smile
I never need more than the dreams I was born with
I’ve always been able to feel it

I was alone and I thought no one needed me
Almost unbearable, but then you delivered me - oh Lord
I never needed more than your love

And I can feel it all my life
I never needed more than your love
And I can feel it all my life
I never need more than your love
